AUSTIN, TEXAS — TinyVox (www.TinyVox.com) the free iPhone app that makes it fun and easy to tape and share audio files on social networks or email, was named a finalist in the Microsoft BizSpark Accelerator at SXSW, where early stage technology companies demo innovative new technology for influential industry judges and a live audience. The contest is sponsored by Microsoft BizSpark, The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, IBM, .CO, and Turner Broadcasting System. TinyVox is one of 40 finalists in five categories out of more than 400 applicants.

TinyVox looks is designed to look like a tape deck and posts audio messages to the cloud with one tap.  Users make tapes right from their iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad and can then share it on Twitter, Facebook or Tumblr or privately email themselves or any of their Contacts a playable audio attachment. Each file can run up to 20 minutes.

“TinyVox is built to help the people coming to Austin this week capture and transmit the encounters, experiences, ideas and energy of the South By Southwest conference,” said TinyVox inventor Srini Kumar. “Talking is easier than typing for most people, particularly on a smartphone.  Audio taping is less intrusive than video and lets you type up your notes later or even share the raw audio with your team.  When at SXSW, take some photos, scribble some notes, and sure, shoot some video - but tape everything important with TinyVox to make sure you don’t miss a thing!”

The three-day BizSpark Accelerator event will be held Monday, March 14th - Wednesday, March 16th  at the Downtown Austin Hilton. The event will feature finalists competing in categories including Innovative Web Technologies, Social Media and Social Networking Technologies, Entertainment Technologies, and News Related Technologies. TinyVox will present alongside seven other companies in the Social Media/Social Networking Category at 12:30 pm on March 14th. The award ceremony will be held March 16th at 6 pm.

A Pro version of TinyVox (without ads) is on sale for $1.99 in the iTunes Store through the end of March.

“The SXSW Accelerator program continues to attract a record number of submissions and we’re very proud of the caliber of this year’s finalists,” said Microsoft BizSpark Accelerator at SXSW Coordinator, Chris Valentine. “SXSW, a conference built on innovation, is the ideal community to connect these early-stage technology companies with an outstanding group of industry influencers, potential partners, and investors.”
