Flights to Iceland from Washington, D.C. are to begin on May 17th 2011 by Iceland’s leading airline, Icelandair. To celebrate, Icelandair, in cooperation with Iceland Naturally and a host of Washington, D.C. establishments, is hosting a special Iceland festival named, ‘A Taste of Iceland’, featuring Icelandic music, film and food.

The ‘A Taste of Iceland’ event, set to take place February 24th – 27th 2011, will give those living in Washington a taste of what Icelandic culture has to offer. As a strong supporter of arts and culture, Icelandair looks forward to strengthen the bridge between Washington, D.C. and Europe whilst also bringing some of Iceland’s up-and-coming bands, best chefs, and latest film releases to the Baltimore-Washington area.

Thorsteinn Egilsson, Icelandair’s General Manager for The Americas, explained, “Icelandair is no stranger to the Baltimore-Washington market and we look forward to serving the metropolitan area that we called home for nearly 15 years. Dulles Airport will offer convenient connectivity for U.S. travellers and will serve the large international market surrounding Washington, D.C..”

Icelandair’s non-stop service from Washington Dulles International Airport begins May 17th 2011.
