SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - THX Ltd. today announced that Sound + Vision Magazine, the media authority on home entertainment equipment, has awarded four THX Certified display products 2010 Editors’ Choice Awards in the competitive video product category.

The Panasonic TC-950VT25 3D Plasma TV took in Video Product of the Year honors, while the Runco Q-750i DLP Projector, the Epson Powerlite Pro Cinema 9700UB LCD Projector, and the LG 47LE8500 LCD TV all received Editors’ Choice nods. Products achieving THX Display Certification have been through a rigorous design and laboratory testing process to ensure accurate color reproduction, sharper pictures and overall exceptional image quality.

Award recipients were selected by the editorial staff of Sound + Vision from a list of nominees originally tested in the magazine by a panel of contributing technical editors and reviewers. Winners are included in a feature story in the magazine’s February/March 2011 issue. For more information, go to www.soundandvisionmag.com.

“Products receiving our Editors’ Choice distinctions in the video category made indelible impressions on our discerning staff with their crystal-clear picture quality and video processing capabilities,” said Mike Mettler, Editor-In-Chief, Sound + Vision. “THX should be proud of its work with nearly all of our winners. It’s clear that by going through the process of certification these companies care deeply about giving consumers the highest-quality home entertainment experience.”

“The process of achieving THX Display Certification is not trivial, but those who see it through are rewarded with a quality stamp that truly means ‘best in class,’” said Rick Dean, senior vice president, THX Ltd. “We congratulate our partners receiving these honors from Sound + Vision and look forward to continuing our work with manufacturers across the globe in improving the performance of display technologies.”

THX offers the only independent benchmark for Display Certification. To achieve THX Display Certification, THX engineers perform more than 200 laboratory tests, gathering more than 400 data points to ensure exceptional image quality and signal processing performance in a home theater environment. All THX Certified displays and projectors feature simple, one button modes for optimized playback of movies right out-of-the-box.
