8 months after its launch, the Peugeot 408 already accounts for one in four Peugeot sales in China.

This successful launch has now been accompanied by the acknowledgment of 408’s level of safety by the Chinese NCAP.

The Peugeot 408 has obtained this 5 star rating with 47,1 points out of 51 possible, maximum points, and has finished first in the 4th phase of tests carried out in 2010 by CATARC (China Automotive Technology & Research Center), amongst 8 cars tested within this test group organized by the Chinese NCAP.

Chinese NCAP is an initiative of the Chinese public authorities, allowing independent test to be conducted in order to assess and quantify the passive safety performances within today the number one automobile market in the world. This initiative is parallel in its approach to the EuroNCAP organization in Europe, in which Peugeot as already been awarded 5 stars, for nine of its vehicles (5 in the former protocol, 4 in the new one).

This outcome reinforces Peugeot’s image in regard to automobile safety in China, an area in which Peugeot has the ambition to be a reference.

Furthermore, the 408 is the second Peugeot car within the highly strategic M1 Chinese segment, representing 50% of the total market to be acknowledged for its remarkable level of safety, along with the 307, having already been awarded a 5 star Chinese NCAP rating in September of 2009 achieving a 45.5 points score.

Peugeot is determined to continue its efforts to offer its Chinese customers vehicles in line the best world standards of safety.
