DMEC Think Tank To Showcase Industry Thought Leaders

WEBWIRE

Integrated disability and absence management leaders and topic experts will outline best practices and explore future trends in the Disability Management Employer Coalition’s (DMEC) 2011 Think Tank on Virtual Workforce: The changing face of productivity in the technological age. As the recognized leader in integrated disability and absence management, DMEC organizes an annual Think Tank that explores current hot topics in the field.

The 2011 Think Tank will be held in Newport Beach, California on March 23, 2011.

In the next three years, public and private sector IT decision makers expect telework to increase by sixty five percent and thirty three percent, respectively. Occasional telecommuters— those who work remotely (though not necessarily at home) —totaled 17.2 million in 2008. Explains Marcia Carruthers, CPDM, MBA, ARM, President and CEO of DMEC, “This growing work-from-home population has huge implications for employers. For instance, managing is more complex and requires new skill sets to obtain peak performance and bridge the communication divide. And working from home impacts Workers’ Compensation and Return To Work practices, both areas where DMEC has unique expertise.”

Participants will help define the strategies and practices needed to respond in a wireless world and a workplace without walls. A post-Think Tank white paper will be produced and is expected to be available in July.

Topics that will be explored during the Think Tank include disability/absence/productivity, telemedicine, virtual management and talent market trends.

The 2011 Think Tank is supported by sponsorship from leaders in the absence and disability services industry. Kaiser Permanente, Liberty Mutual, MetLife, Prudential and The Hartford are the first sponsors of the Think Tank.

Members of the media are invited to cover the Think Tank. Please contact Rebecca Milot-Bradford at 970.457.4666 or membership@dmec.org to receive a press pass and time and location details.

The Disability Management Employer Coalition (DMEC) is a non-profit organization that advances strategies and resources to improve workforce productivity by minimizing the impact of absence and disability. The primary goal of DMEC is to assist employers in developing cost-saving programs and returning employees to productive employment.
