WEBWIRE

Cleveland, OH—Alphaport, Incorporated, a Cleveland-based provider of knowledge management and professional development services, engineering services, and product development, will sponsor a pre-launch reception, “Tribute to Discovery,” on October 31, 2010 to honor NASA’s space shuttle Discovery and its final trip to space. Discovery is scheduled to fly the second to last shuttle mission on November 1, 2010 at 4:40 p.m. EDT, launched from John F. Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida.

Alphaport and co-host Triune Group are sponsoring the event on behalf of the NASA John H. Glenn Research Center, Cleveland, OH, and have distributed 300 invitations. Glenn Center Director Ray Lugo and guests along with Alphaport and Triune employees and their families are expected to attend. Most will watch Discovery’s launch on the day following the reception from prime viewing areas at KSC.

The “Tribute to Discovery” will depict the lead orbiter’s history of flight over the last 26 years with 38 flights to its credit. All event attendees will receive drawstring backpacks full of goodies and can pose for a digitally generated picture of themselves “in space” printed as a take home memento. There will be tricks and treats for the kids and nostalgia for the grownups as NASA’s space shuttle program comes to an end.
