* “Creating Chemistry” replaces the successful audio formats “The Chemical Reporter ” and “Chemistry of Innovations”

Exciting topics from the world of chemistry, interestingly presented and easily understood: This is what BASF offers in a new video podcast series called “Creating Chemistry.” Previously, BASF explained chemistry in everyday life to interested listeners in the two audio podcasts “The Chemical Reporter” and “Chemistry of Innovations.” After more than one hundred clips, the two successful audio formats are now being replaced by the Creating Chemistry video podcast. It is available for viewing on the BASF YouTube channel, making it accessible for anyone interested in learning more about chemistry.

The first Creating Chemistry video podcast is about biodegradable plastics like BASF’s Ecoflex® and Ecovio®. “Bio-based and biodegradable plastics are a relatively young but rapidly growing segment in the wide product category of plastics,” said Robert Heger, Vice President, Specialty Plastics. “In the video podcast, we want to show that biodegradable plastics have new properties and can be used in new applications. These specialty products complement BASF’s portfolio of conventional plastics.”

Each Creating Chemistry podcast features an expert talking about chemical topics relevant to everyday life. The series plans to make available a new video podcast every quarter. The podcasts will be filmed in Germany as well as in other countries where BASF is represented. The language in each case is that of whichever BASF expert has the starring role. Translations in German or English will be given in subtitles.

The Creating Chemistry video podcast series will be shown on the BASF YouTube channel and on Facebook. Viewers can ask questions about the podcasts, discuss topics shown in the videos or suggest new topics that they would like to hear more about. The video podcasts are also available for viewing on the BASF website or subscription via RSS-Feed, and there are plans for an iTunes media library subscription option. Once downloaded, the new video podcasts are able for mobile viewing on a laptop, cell phone or iPad.

The first Creating Chemistry video podcast can be accessed via www.youtube.com/watch.
