Cannes, France – Warner Bros. International Television Distribution and TV4 Group has signed a multi-year output deal giving the Scandinavian broadcaster the free-TV and basic cable rights to a raft of programming. The deal marks the first time that WBITD has signed a pan-regional deal exclusively with one broadcaster in Scandinavia. The announcement was made today at MIPCOM 2010 in Cannes, France by Jeffrey R. Schlesinger President, Warner Bros. International Television Distribution and Clara Scherman, Head of Acquisitions, TV4 Group.

Under terms of the agreement, TV4 Group has licensed new television programs from the 2011–12 season in the U.S., a slate of films from the Warner Bros. Pictures’ including “Inception,” “Sherlock Holmes” and “The Blind Side,” as well as upcoming releases including “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Parts I and II),” “The Hangover 2” and “Green Lantern,” among others; previously released feature films and television series from the Warner Bros. Entertainment collection and animated programming.

“This is a groundbreaking deal for us in Scandinavia and a bold move by TV4,” said Schlesinger. “The fact that we have aligned with TV4 across several countries is a sign of our confidence in them and an indication that their faith in Warner Bros to deliver superior commercial programming that will drive ratings and appeal to audiences in the region.”

“For the first time the TV4 Group signs an output deal that covers the Scandinavian territory. With Warner’s outstanding track record of blockbuster features and TV series and the TV4 Group’s strong position in this region I am confident that this partnership is a perfect match,” said Scherman.
