Merseyside Based Percy Hughes and Roberts Solicitors Awarded Further Family Legal Aid Contract

Percy Hughes & Roberts are delighted to announce they have been awarded a further Family Legal Aid contract with effect from November 2010. The Family Department includes Solicitor Ruth Tibbett, Family Executive Nicki Welch and Solicitor Jane Sampson and deals with family matters ranging from divorce, ancillary relief, domestic abuse, care proceedings, residence and contact applications.

Ruth Tibbett, Solicitor, is an accredited specialist member of Resolution for Children Law (disputes between parents and relatives), financial and property matters and domestic abuse. Ruth qualified in 1989 and leads the Family Department.

Nicki Welch holds an ILEX Family Law & Practice Certificate and deals mainly with private law and public law proceedings involving children. Nicki is also a member of Resolution and has been working in the Family Department for 7 years.

Jane Sampson, Solicitor, joined the Firm earlier this year. Jane is appointed to the Children’s Panel which allows her to undertake work for Guardians. Guardians are appointed by the Court to represent the rights and interests of children in cases where the Local Authority is involved.

The Department works closely with local women’s refuge and victim support centres.

In 2006 Percy Hughes & Roberts were voted the best Small and Medium Enterprise in the Wirral Investment Network and received the Making a Difference Award which recognised the Firm’s valuable support work within the local community.

In 2007 Percy Hughes & Roberts was present with the Liverpool Law Society Presidents Award for pro bono work.
