“Ken is a very interesting and colorful character. He has strong opinions on DUI in Nevada and I learned he doesn’t shy away from extremely serious or difficult cases.” says Jacobs.

Ken Stover spoke at length about some of the unusual DUI cases he’s handled, including cases where the defendant had BAC levels of 0.3, 0.4 and even 0.6.

“…at 0.3 BAC, you could be considered to be essentially comatose… “…Imagine someone with a 0.4 or 0.6 – it’s amazing they’re not dead…” Ken Stover said with amazement.

DUI / DWI lawyers seem to shy away from talking about very high BAC level cases and cases where accidents or deaths are involved, possibly for fear of making themselves look like they’re defending ‘bad people’.

“This interview was candid, shocking, and revealing simply by Ken thinking of his past clients (of which he kept confidential and only revealed generic details)” says Richard Jacobs.

Attorney Stover noted that DUI, more than any other crime he has seen, affects people of all income levels, races, and circumstances. It is also now the most common crime in the United States, reaching levels of nearly 2 million people a year arrested for DUI.

Ken Stover also mentioned that the Nevada DUI laws have an unusual skew in them, providing for a near zero tolerance level for people who have marijuana in their blood, while not setting any limits for people who have cocaine, acid, or other drugs in their system.
He also mentioned another peculiarity of Nevada DUI law that says upon someone getting a 3rd DUI in Nevada, they must serve a 15 year prison sentence, even if their previous DUI was many years before.
