Tieto and Aditro cooperate on cost-effective cloud computing services for Sweden’s municipalities

Tieto has started a deepened cooperation with Aditro for delivery and operation of new cloud computing services adapted to HR and business administration work in Sweden’s municipalities. The services give better control over IT costs and create scope for operational development.

’This cooperation gives Sweden’s local authorities completely new opportunities. Aditro will provide the solution and Tieto will run it,’ says Lennart Larsson, head of authorities and county councils business area in Tieto Sweden. ’Together we can offer an IT environment with standardised applications and processes that several people can use,’ he explains. ’It’s cost-effective, simple and enables a greater focus to be placed on developing core operations.’

It has become costly for Sweden’s municipalities to own and run IT systems themselves; it has also proved difficult to retain skilled IT employees in the municipal public sector. Cooperation between local authorities is therefore increasingly common, and growing numbers of the authorities are opting to purchase IT support and operation as a standardised service provided via the internet.

’The trend is particularly evident in small and medium-sized local authorities,’ says Dick Ärlestål, public sector sales manager at Aditro. ’But even larger local authorities realise the value of purchasing HR and business administration systems as a service instead of running them in house.’

The new cloud computing services give direct access to standard municipal processes for HR and business administration via the internet, eliminating the need to invest in licences and hardware or having in-house skills in this field. In addition to the actual systems and their operation, the services include support, upgrades, systems administration, integration and consulting services. The services will be expanded at a later stage to encompass support for municipal key indicators.
