Memorial Services Announced for Gay Pride Taos Founder

(Taos, NM) Public memorial services for Gay Pride Taos founder Robert Quintana will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home in Taos, NM. A celebration and commemoration of Quintana’s life will follow from 4-7:00 pm at the historic Anglada’s Building located at 736 Kit Carson Rd. (Hwy 64), Taos. The celebration will include photo and video records of Quintana’s accomplishments, as well as music, refreshments, and an opportunity for community members to share their memories.

“Robert was a bigger than life person - so full of love and energy,” says Janie Corinne of Gay Pride Taos. “The celebration will be a place where people can be with one another to laugh, cry, tell stories, see photos of Robert, and grieve. We hope that everyone who wants to be there will attend, even those who didn’t know Robert very well.”

Gay Pride Taos and Quintana’s family plan the celebration of Quintana’s life to commemorate his work in the community and to ensure that everyone who knew him has an opportunity to share and connect with others. Tino Romero, a family friend, characterizes the celebration as “like an Irish wake. We’ll tell stories about Robert and share our memories of him.” All members of the public are invited to attend both the memorial service and the celebration of Quintana’s life.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of condolence and gratitude for Quintana can be made to the Robert E. Quintana Memorial & Scholarship Fund at Centinel Bank of Taos.
