Erlangen, Germany, Siemens has signed long-term service contracts with two customers in the Philippines and France. The Service Division within the Siemens’ Energy Sector will provide full-scope operation and maintenance services for three power plants. The combined value of the contracts over their terms reaches approximately 800 million Euro.

“We are pleased that our customers value Siemens’ broad experience and look forward to enabling them to profit by reducing their total costs of ownership over the coming years,” said Randy Zwirn, CEO of the Energy Service Division within Siemens. Besides the environmental portfolio and markets in newly industrializing countries, services are one of the three growth drivers for Siemens. In the future the company wants to further increase the service business potential by offering additional services.

Subsidiaries of the Philippine power plant operator First Gen Corp. have awarded two 15-year service contracts to Siemens’ Energy Service division, which will provide operation and maintenance for natural gas-fired power plants totaling 1,000 megawatts (MW) in Santa Rita and for a plant in San Lorenzo with a capacity of 500 MW. The contracts will replace existing operation and maintenance agreements with Siemens that expired at the end of July.

The French power plant operator Poweo awarded a 19-year service contract to Siemens. Under this agreement, the company will be responsible for operation and maintenance for the 413-MW combined-cycle gas turbine power plant that is being built in Toul by Siemens. The plant is scheduled to be commissioned in the first half of 2013.

The Siemens Energy Sector is the world’s leading supplier of a complete spectrum of products, services and solutions for the generation, transmission and distribution of power and for the extraction, conversion and transport of oil and gas. In fiscal 2009 (ended September 30), the Energy Sector had revenues of approximately EUR25.8 billion and received new orders totaling approximately EUR30 billion and posted a profit of EUR3.3 billion. On September 30, 2009, the Energy Sector had a work force of more than 85,100.
