TestAmerica Expert and Member of U.S. EPA Environmental Laboratory Advisory Board Presents at the 2010 NEMC

WEBWIRE

Dr. Richard Burrows, TestAmerica’s Director of Technical Services, will be speaking in two technical sessions, uncovering the challenges of generating meaningful information from laboratory data, and providing insights of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s (TCEQ) development of quantitation limits. The presentations will be given at the 2010 National Environmental Monitoring Conference (NEMC) on August 9th and 10th, 2010 in Washington, D.C.

As the session chair for Best Practices for Data Reduction-Turning Data into Information, Dr. Burrows will also review key points from other abstracts and discuss areas in which relevant information can be lost. Papers in this session will mainly examine the current issues, potential, and state-of-the-art solutions in the process of extracting applicable information from the raw data provided by laboratory instruments for decision making.

Under the Operational and Advocacy Issues Impacting the Environmental Laboratory Industry technical session, Dr. Burrows’ second presentation will entail a laboratory perspective on the current efforts of the TCEQ to develop rational and meaningful quantitation limits for their environmental programs.

Dr. Burrows is a member of the U.S. EPA’s Federal Advisory Board Committee, the Environmental Laboratory Advisory Board (ELAB), who will be conducting an open public forum during the conference. He is actively involved with environmental methods and technique development through the U.S. EPA and American Council of Independent Laboratories (ACIL), and EPA Federal Advisory Committees.

Dr. Burrows’ method development work has involved bringing new perspectives to method detection limits (MDLs), quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), environmental reference materials, volatile and semivolatile organic compound methods, and HPLC/MS.
