BCL Legal Responds to Law Client Demand & Expands Temporary Department

WEBWIRE

Manchester headquartered BCL Legal - one of the leading legal recruitment consultancies outside London which also has offices in Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Bristol and Reading – is growing its temporary contract department following a significant rise in demand from both in-house and private practice clients during the first half of 2010. BCL’s board predicts a further 20% increase in clients wanting to recruit legal professionals on a temporary basis this year as they respond to the current climate and adopt new ways of working as the economy comes out of recession.

The company has recruited Catherine Hughes as the team’s new senior manager. Catherine, 32, has 10 years experience in the recruitment sector having previously held positions at Reed, Robert Half & Morgan McKinley. Her principle role will be to strengthen the department’s profile across the legal industry and to secure new contracts as well as maintain business with existing clients.

James Batt, director of BCL Legal commented; ‘The trend for recruiting temporary staff has really gained pace over the last year or so. Clients now realise the benefits of working in this way as it allows them to utilise specialists when they need them. Greater flexibility and a more cost effective approach to planning are the other big drivers.

James continued; Our prediction is that this will carry on for the foreseeable future so we want to ensure BCL Legal is at the forefront of the trend by offering a bespoke and responsive service to both clients and candidates.’

Catherine said of her new role and department; ‘We know the last couple of years have been challenging for the legal profession and it, like many other industries, is adapting and morphing as it faces a new marketplace. Temporary working will never take the place of salaried employment but for many it’s a great option so I am looking forward to driving the department forward.’
