When the U.S. Army needed to upgrade lighting at Fort Huachuca in Arizona - they selected Deco Lighting’s 100,000 hour life Induction fixtures. With continuous 24/7 military operations, Fort Huachuca required the very latest green technology, energy efficient lighting solutions. Deco Lighting’s new Induction technology fixtures save the U.S. Army 50% in lighting energy costs.

Deco Lighting replaced inefficient HID (high intensity discharge) high bay fixtures with new Induction high bay luminaires in 38 buildings throughout the base at Fort Huachuca, including barracks, offices, mess halls, and laundry facilities. This lighting upgrade provides the U.S. Army with immediate energy savings and long term maintenance cost savings. The new Deco luminaires also deliver superior illumination for operational reliability, visibility and safety.

Historic Fort Huachuca is located in southeast Arizona, about 15 miles north of the border with Mexico. The base is home to the Army Network Intelligence Technology Command (NETCOM), 9th Army Signal Command, and U.S. Army Intelligence Center, Founded in 1877, Fort Huachuca is steeped in history as a base for the U.S. Cavalry against Geronimo in the Apache Wars, the famous 10th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers and General Pershing’s failed expeditions against Pancho Villa in Mexico, and is now registered as a U.S. National Historic Landmark.

At Fort Huachuca, 270 existing HID fixtures were replaced with Deco Lighting D980i 120 and 80 watt Induction high bay fixtures equipped with 22” high efficiency prismatic reflectors. The new Deco Induction luminaires use approximately half the wattage of
the HID fixtures and produce equivalent light levels. Based on 8.6¢ kWh and 12 hour daily operation, the new lighting system saves the U.S. Army at Fort Huachuca approx. $20,341 in annual utility energy costs. With 100,000 hour, 20+ year lamp life, the new Induction lighting system saves on the long term maintenance costs of five cycles of relamping the HID fixtures. Maintenance savings, using typical current cost of $75 per HID fixture for relamping parts and labor, will save an additional $5,063 annually.

Deco Lighting Induction luminaires provide 100,000 hour life for substantial long term maintenance savings with 3 to 10 times the service life versus HID lamps. High 85+ lumens per watt and high efficiency performance allow Induction luminaires to provide
similar light levels with half the wattage of HID for 50% or more in utility cost savings. Deco Induction luminaires feature instant on, no restrike, cold weather performance down to -40°C/F, electrode-less lamps for vibration resistance, superior lamp lumen
depreciation with 80% lumens at 60,000 hours, excellent 90 CRI color, and 10 year warranty.
