WEBWIRE

When the U.S. Navy needed to upgrade outdoor lighting at Naval Base Guam - their strategic Western Pacific base on the island of Guam - they chose Deco Lighting’s 100,000 hour life Induction fixtures. With electricity costs over 30 cents per KWH and 24/7 military operations, Naval Base Guam required the very latest green technology, energy efficient lighting solutions. Deco Lighting’s new Induction technology fixtures save the U.S. Navy 60% in lighting energy costs versus the fixtures replaced.

The Naval base is located on the Pacific island of Guam, a United States territory in the Northern Mariana Islands, approximately 3/4 of the distance from Hawaii to the Philippines. Naval Base Guam is a pivotal point of strength and sea power for the Western Pacific by hosting numerous commands. It is home of Commander Naval Forces Marianas, Commander Submarine Squadron Fifteen, Coast Guard Sector Guam, Naval Special Warfare Unit One, and supports 28 other tenant commands. It is home base of three Los Angeles class nuclear submarines and many units operating in support of U.S. Pacific Command, U.S. Pacific Fleet, 7th Fleet and 5th Fleet.

Deco Lighting replaced inefficient HID (high intensity discharge) lighting fixtures with latest green technology, 100,000 hour Induction luminaires to provide the U.S. Navy with substantial energy savings and long term maintenance cost savings. The new Deco luminaires also deliver superior illumination for operational reliability, visibility and safety. At Naval Base Guam, 669 existing HID fixtures were replaced with Deco Lighting’s Induction technology Python cobraheads, floodlights, wall packs, and high bay fixtures. The new Deco Induction luminaires use approximately half the wattage of the HID fixtures and produce equivalent light levels. Based on 30¢ KWH and 12 hour daily operation, the new lighting system saves the U.S. Navy base at Guam approx. $175,813 in annual utility energy costs. With 100,000 hour, 20+ year lamp life, the new Induction lighting system saves on the long term maintenance costs of four cycles of relamping the HID fixtures. Maintenance savings, using typical current cost of $75 per HID fixture for relamping parts and labor, will save an additional $9,122 annually.

Deco Lighting Induction luminaires provide 3 to 10 times the service life versus HID lamps. High 85+ lumens per watt and high efficiency performance allow Induction lighting to provide similar light levels with half the wattage of HID and the benefit of 50% or more in utility cost savings. Deco Induction luminaires feature instant on, no restrike performance, electrode-less lamps for vibration resistance, superior lamp lumen depreciation with 80%lumens at 60,000 hours, excellent 90 CRI color, and 10 year warranty.
