Imagine Eyes to showcase results from its cellular-level retinal imaging program at ARVO 2010

WEBWIRE

Orsay France, April 26, 2010 – Imagine Eyes, a leading provider of adaptive optics technologies for vision science and retinal imaging, will be presenting new cellular-level retinal images obtained by its customers and team at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology’s (ARVO) annual meeting. In addition to the images being displayed on the company’s stand, a total of 24 papers and/or posters using its technology will be presented during the 5-day event held in Ft Lauderdale from May 2-6, 2010. For a complete listing, visit http://www.imagine-eyes.com/ARVO_2010/.

With two prototypes of Imagine Eyes’ rtx1™ Adaptive Optics Retinal Cameras* currently serving at clinical investigation sites and over 30 teams around the world using the company’s mirao™ deformable mirror as part of their retinal imaging systems, over 20 different retinal pathologies have already been successfully imaged in vivo at the microscopic level. Additionally, the two clinical investigation sites, Paris’ Quinze-Vingts Hospital (France’s National Ophthalmic Center) and the Creteil Hospital, have acquired images on approximately 400 eyes with the goal of developing an image bank of morphological data to better understand the living retina. An improved rtx1 is now being tested. Dr. Kiyoko Nakashima, MD, investigator at the Quinze-Vingts Hospital, states: “The new, fully automated, adaptive-optics system is an enormous plus because, contrary to other systems, the user doesn’t need any knowledge of adaptive optics to use it. That, alongside the larger imaging area, marks major advances in the development of a clinical device.”

To summarize the potential of Imagine Eyes’ retinal imaging program, Pr. Philippe Sourdille, former head of the Clinique Sourdille, stated “It’s hard to imagine how we can progress in understanding and treating retinal diseases without the cellular and micro-vascular imaging technology developed by Imagine Eyes.”

Visit Imagine Eyes at ARVO 2010 on stand 319-321. Members of the press are invited to contact Mark Zacharria, Director of Marketing Communication, at +33 (0)1 64 86 15 66 or mzacharria@imagine-eyes.com. For more information, please visit http://www.imagine-eyes.com.
