Vector Networks’ flagship IT Asset Management suite self-updates in v5.7

WEBWIRE

April 21, 2010 – Atlanta, Montreal, and Birmingham (UK) - Vector Networks, a leader in desktop asset and service management solutions, today announced Vector Asset Manager Pro v5.7 with automatic self-update for both its Web-based and LAN-based agent software.

Asset Manager Pro (www.vector-networks.com/solutions/asset/asset_manage.html) is known for its comprehensive industry leading features including Asset Discovery, Inventory and Mapping, License Compliance, Software Usage Monitoring, and Application Software Requirements Planning. The new version significantly streamlines management and reduces cost of ownership for AM Pro.

The new v5.7 Asset Management Client introduces the Self-Update capability. This feature keeps the AM Pro software current in all managed PCs and servers, automatically fetching the latest fixes and feature updates via the Internet. This means customers do not need to spend time deploying future AM Pro services packs, fixes or extensions again.

“With our typical installation size continuing to increase we are delighted to be offering functionality that significantly reduces the administration overhead for this solution set”, said Kevin Kiley, VP Sales and Business Development for Vector Networks. “With this approach, we are able to provide a more continuous flow of enhancements without imposing any load on our customers. Customers can also apply less of their scarce resources to managing AM Pro, and more to ahieving their goals in Software License Compliance and Software Asset Optimization.”

Erick Yanez, Vector Network’s Montreal-based VP of Development, explains the control that customers will still have over the client update process. “You have full control over the automatic updates. You can specify what updates are deployed to the Clients and whether they get their updates from Vector Networks or from your server. Managed Service Providers can also specify their own servers and deploy different updates to different clients. If more refined control is ever needed, you can even deploy specific updates to only certain individual computers, groups of computers or Active Directory OUs. Advanced, unique three-tiered technology provides levels of security, reliability and trust that go beyond the standard.”
