AT&T and Sundance Channel Launch Another Paperless Billing Promotion that Doubles the Trees Planted for U-verse TV Customers Who Opt In To Paperless Billing

Dallas, Texas, AT&T* is giving AT&T U-verse® TV customers double vision when it comes to supporting the environment. Thanks to a new promotion with Sundance Channel — and with the help of The Arbor Day Foundation — the first 140,000 new or existing U-verse TV customers who switch to paperless billing through April 30 will have a tree planted in their honor in a national forest.

This builds on the ongoing paperless promotion launched last month, in which AT&T announced a company-wide initiative with The National Arbor Day Foundation to have a tree planted in honor of AT&T residential home phone, U-verse TV, and wireless customers who opt in to paperless billing — up to 1 million trees in 2010. The AT&T and Sundance Channel promotion means U-verse TV customers who opt in through April 30 will actually have two trees, total, planted in their honor — one generated by the AT&T promotion, and a second generated by AT&T’s partnership with the Sundance Channel.

AT&T U-verse customers can go to att.com/paperfree to opt in to paperless billing. U-verse TV customers who make the switch during the campaign will receive a thank you e-card notifying them that a tree has been planted on their behalf. The trees will be planted in a National Forest in celebration of Arbor Day with the help of The Arbor Day Foundation.

“We’re proud to work with the Sundance Channel to give our customers a gift that benefits the environment,” said John Blinkiewicz, executive director of U-verse marketing, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. “This is another great opportunity to encourage AT&T U-verse customers to make the switch to paperless billing. Not only does online billing conserve our natural resources, it makes it easier for consumers to manage their monthly statements and helps reduce clutter around the home.”

“We are delighted to join with AT&T to encourage U-verse TV customers to make the switch to online billing. Now, more than ever, it is key that we protect our planet,” said Shari Weisenberg, SVP Marketing, Sundance Channel. “We hope that through this campaign and our new season of ‘The Lazy Environmentalist’ series, our viewers and AT&T customers will gain knowledge about what they can do to take care of our environment.”

In addition to supporting the environment, managing accounts online with paperless billing provides customers secure access to current statements, payment options and account histories related to their AT&T bills.

AT&T U-verse TV was one of the first video service providers to earn the ENERGY STAR® for its set-top boxes under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ENERGY STAR program for video providers. All deployed AT&T U-verse TV receivers — including those in customers’ homes today without the ENERGY STAR label — exceed the efficiency requirements.

AT&T U-verse TV, U-verse High Speed Internet and U-verse Voice services, which are all delivered over AT&T’s advanced Internet Protocol (IP) network, offer an alternative to cable and an unmatched experience for customers. AT&T U-verse brings together your TV, broadband, home phone and wireless services ― all on one bill ― with unique features that provide a new level of integration, convenience and control. AT&T U-verse TV ranked “Highest in Residential Television Service Satisfaction in the South and West Regions Two Years in a Row,” according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2008 and 2009 Residential Television Service Provider Satisfaction StudiesSM.
