Everest College – Tacoma Launches Paralegal Program

WEBWIRE

TACOMA, Wash. (March 9, 2010) – Everest College – Tacoma today announced that it is adding a two-year paralegal studies program to its course offering. The paralegal field is anticipating rapid growth in the next decade, with increased employment of paralegals and legal assistants by 28 percent between 2008 to 2018, much faster than the average for all occupations, according to projections by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics*. The school is expected to launch its Associate of Science paralegal program in April, and is already accepting students.

“With the demand for paralegals increasing rapidly, the new program continues to provide students a chance for solid career opportunities,” said Tim Allen, president of the Tacoma campus. “Additionally, every student who comes through our course gains invaluable preparation under the direction of an attorney, something that helps them prepare for the real world.”

The 24-month paralegal program will train students to interview, gather, review and analyze factual situations, research the law, prepare and interpret legal documents, and conduct legal office operations.

The paralegal program will also focus on teaching students about the particulars of contracts, estate planning, wills, trusts, estate taxes, estate sales and joint tenancy.

Graduates of the program are expected to be qualified for entry-level paralegal jobs at legal offices, state and federal government agencies, corporate legal departments, consumer groups, insurance companies, banks, title companies and legal aid societies.
