Paris and San Francisco, January 26, 2010 – After a successful launch in November 2009, the PRI – PHOTON Research Industry team is proud to announce that the 2010 edition of the event leading will take place from October 26 through 29 2010 at Paris’ Parc Floral located on the Esplanade du Château de Vincennes. Staying true to the event’s founding ideals, the 2010 edition will offer members from all walks of the optics-photonics profession to meet in an energetic and convivial environment where ideas flow, relationships are formed and business is done.

“Although PRI was initially founded by members of the AFOP (French Optics-Photonics Association) following lackluster performance at other events where too many industries being represented diluted the audience value for optics-photonics companies, our goal was to provide those companies with the opportunity to shape the event to meet their needs” says Samuel Bucourt, President of the AFOP. He continues by adding “As planned, PRI will alternate biannually between Province and Paris, making it an ideal venue for an international event in a central European city in the years where there is no Laser event in Munich. PRI will continue to look for new activities to enrich its program each year.”

From October 26 through 28, the 30th edition of OPTO, the European tradeshow dedicated to all optics-photonics solutions, will join PRI which will equally host the annual meetings of the European Optical Society (EOS) and National Committee on Optics and Photonics (CNOP). Special events during PRI include activities to celebrate the laser’s 50th anniversary and the annual Vitrine de l’Innovation awards ceremony. La Vitrine de l’Innovation is presented yearly by Photoniques magazine for the most innovative French product of the year. The winner is chosen by via a vote by members of the French Optical Society (SFO) and an advisory council.

Members of the press are invited to contact Mark Zacharria by e-mail at mz@elucido-partners.net or by telephone on +33 (0)1 46 28 03 13 (+33 6 81 55 99 06 during Photonics West). The all-new PRI site, www.pri-event.org, will be online in the coming months.
