AGI: Changing Lives by Changing the World of Gifting.

Wichita, KS, December 11, 2009: The mission at Alternative Gifts International (AGI) is clear: To inspire support for humanitarian and environmental causes. So, how does this apply to the holiday season? Lea McCloud, President of AGI says: “It’s pretty simple really. Instead of giving mom another bottle of perfume this year, give her an attractive card telling her about the unique present given to a charitable cause in her honor.”

Since its inception in 1987 AGI has literally transformed the world of gift giving. For 22 years it has been the catalyst that has allowed gift-givers to donate more than $19 million dollars to numerous charities worldwide on behalf of a loved one.

Visit Alternativegifts.org and a variety of local, national and global causes can receive a donation in the name of intended gift recipients. If online shopping doesn’t appeal to individuals interested, AGI also has a phone ordering system that has “live” assistants waiting to take their gift order.

With a list of forty organizations to donate to AGI has opened a channel to take action, and change someone’s life, simply by changing the gift giving process. McCloud said, “Find out what cause your gift recipient supports – it may be the environment, child abuse prevention, education or empowering women… then tell them that you’d like to give a transformational gift in their name this year. Our website has a catalog of charities for you to choose from. There’s something for everyone.”

Additionally, churches, schools, businesses or other organizations can host a “Gift Market.” The purpose of a Gift Market is to allow shoppers to purchase meaningful gifts that will feed an Indonesian child for a month, or supply safe drinking water for an African village.

These are just some of the examples of ways to give a gift that will transform someone’s life this year. Yes, it’s a non-traditional method of gifting; but providing a life-changing “alternative” gift, versus the usual perfume or gadget, is what this season is all about.
