With Thanksgiving only a few days away many professionals involved in the IAQ industry will have time to reflect on the past year and begin planning for 2010. For many companies 2009 was a challenging year with one of the toughest business climates they have ever faced. Fortunately the economy and the industry appear to be rebounding with high expectations for the coming year.

Market trends do appear to be improving. According to information published by BCC Research the IAQ equipment market in 2005 was valued at $3.6 billion and is expected to rise to $10.4 billion by 2011. The same report listed 2005 IAQ consulting and testing services at $1.5 billion; it is expected to reach $2.7 billion by 2011.

These numbers are certainly welcome news to many in the industry following the difficulties of the past year. As the industry begins to get back to business as usual many IAQ firms are now operating under lean conditions. These firms should be well positioned to profit from their current structure so long as they are able to quickly scale up operations.
