TestAmerica’s Air Expert Invited to Speak at Upcoming A&WMA Chapter Meeting in Texas

WEBWIRE

William Elcoate of TestAmerica Laboratories, Inc., a recognized expert in the area of Vapor Intrusion (VI), will discuss emerging issues and technical challenges of gathering high quality and reliable data from site investigations. The presentation will be given at the monthly Alamo Chapter Air & Waste Management Association’s (A&WMA) in San Antonio, TX on November 12, 2009.

While Texas has not published rules or guidelines to specifically address the Vapor Intrusion pathway, there has been an increase in activity in the state for testing services to support site investigations. Currently, TestAmerica provides testing services for EPA led Vapor Intrusion risk assessments and commercial clients in determining the potential risk and liabilities associated with ASTM Phase 1 & Phase 2 site assessments.

TestAmerica has supported projects from over 40 states in the past 10 years, as the awareness and health risk concerns from this non-voluntary inhalation pathway has prompted many states to publish guidance and update their rules to address Vapor Intrusion. Mr. Elcoate will present on data quality challenges associated with evaluating Vapor Intrusion exposure and provide best practices for pre-project planning, sampling & analysis, where the collection of relevant and appropriate data can be problematic due to the site specific conditions and the mobility of the vapor phase.

Mr. Elcoate has over 20 years of experience in the environmental testing industry and is currently a technical and regulatory expert for TestAmerica’s Air Testing Program. He has been actively involved in Vapor Intrusion seminars across the nation. For more information or inquiries on Vapor Intrusion, please contact Mr. Elcoate through the Ask the Expert webpage on www.testamericainc.com.
