Nine new Asgrow brand Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybean products announced for 2010 growing season

ST. LOUIS – Farmers planting Asgrow® brand Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybeans in 2010 can choose from an expanded product lineup of this next-generation technology. With the winning combination of the Asgrow brand’s exclusive genetics and new trait innovations like Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield, soybean farmers can experience a whole new level of yield and profit potential.

The Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield trait was developed through extensive gene mapping that identifies those regions within soybean DNA that have the greatest impact on yield. The resulting soybean products help farmers produce more soybeans per pod and more bushels per acre, for higher yield potential at harvest. For 2010, the Asgrow brand will offer more Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybean products than any other soybean brand.

“With the innovative combination of exclusive Asgrow genetics and the Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield trait, farmers are reporting significantly higher yields than with first-generation Roundup Ready® products,” says Jerry Devore, Asgrow Marketing Manager. “For the first time, growers are finding not only more 4-bean pods per plant, but also some 5-bean pods, a rarity before this technology was introduced.”

Duncan Campbell, who grew Asgrow Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield production seed on his farm in Belmond, Iowa, last year, was excited to discover a 5-bean pod on one of his soybean plants. “We saw many 4-bean pods, but I had never seen a 5-bean pod before,” he recalls. “There’s definitely potential for a yield increase with Asgrow Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield.”

Devore says soybean growers can look forward to additional innovations from the Asgrow brand, too. “We received great feedback from many farmers about the strong emergence and early season vigor their Asgrow Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans with Acceleron™ fungicidal seed treatment exhibited this season,” he says. “For 2010, the Asgrow brand will offer a next-generation Acceleron product combination for Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans, which will include insecticide and plant health enhancements.”

For the 2010 growing season, Asgrow Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield soybeans will be offered in expanded geographies, including the upper Midwest. It will also be offered for the first time to several soybean-producing areas in the South. In addition to the nine new Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield products announced for the 2010 Asgrow lineup, others may be announced later this year as product evaluation continues throughout the remainder of the 2009 growing season.

Five of the exciting new Asgrow Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield brands for 2010 include AG2430, AG3030, AG3130, AG3430 and AG3830. Here is a brief description of these brands:

AG2430 brand Mid 2
Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield Soybeans
AG2430 is a widely adaptable product with top-end yield potential. It delivers a strong agronomic package combined with excellent defensive traits including protection against soybean cyst nematode, Phytophthora and brown stem rot.

AG3030 brand Early 3
Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield Soybeans
Farmers can count on this medium bushy brand to provide excellent protection against brown stem rot and deliver exceptional emergence. This brand is also an ideal candidate for reduced tillage.

AG3130 brand Early 3
Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield Soybeans
This is an aggressive brand with outstanding yield potential along with moderate resistance to race 3 soybean cyst nematode. In addition, it provides broad multi-race Phytophthora protection with the Rps1c gene and is responsive to high management.

AG3430 brand Mid 3
Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield Soybeans
With consistent high yield potential, this brand gives a stable performance across a wide range of growing environments. It provides moderate resistance to race 3 soybean cyst nematode and has a strong Phytophthora protection package.

AG3830 brand Late 3
Genuity™ Roundup Ready 2 Yield Soybeans
This brand delivers excellent emergence and good standability. It is an ideal candidate for reduced tillage.
