Verizon Wireless Activates Array Of New Digital Cell Sites To Boost Wireless Coverage, New Services In Florida Disney Resort Areas

ORLANDO, FL — Verizon Wireless, which operates the nation’s largest and most reliable wireless network, has accomplished a little magic of its own by activating four new digital cell sites near the Disney resort area to enhance wireless services for residents, businesses and travelers in and around the bustling tourism complex.

The new sites are located near Disney’s Wide World of Sports, All-Stars, Dixie Landings, Port Orleans, Pop Century, Caribbean Beach Club and Bonnet Creek resorts.

The array of sites utilizes the most advanced 3G high-speed wireless network (EV-DO Rev. A), which allows customers to enjoy clearer call reception and faster speeds when sending text or multimedia messages. This advanced network also complements the latest wireless services, such as V CAST – which allows customers to stream video clips, play cutting-edge 3D games and download full song tracks over the air; VZ Navigator(SM) – a location-based service offering maps, audible driving directions, traffic updates, gas station locations and pricing; and the newest, most reliable Push To Talk technology.

This high-speed, reliable network also will soon provide Verizon Wireless customers exclusive services and Disney magic on their wireless phones. Planned services include a special mobile application that will give guests with Verizon Wireless service the ability to easily locate shows, restaurants and Disney characters anywhere inside the parks; get real-time attraction availability information; access mobile games; receive messages from characters; participate in the ultra-interactive Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure at Epcot; and more.

The new sites are part of the company’s continuing investment to expand coverage, increase capacity and enhance quality of its voice and data network throughout the country. Verizon Wireless has invested nearly $2 billion in its Florida network since the company was formed.
