MedTechVets Launches Program for West Point and Naval Academy Alumni to Join the Medical Device Space

Boston, MA – WEBWIRE

MedTechVets, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to supporting military veterans in transitioning to or expanding careers in the medical technology sector, proudly announces a new executive leadership program for graduates of the United States Military Academy (West Point) and United States Naval Academy (Annapolis). These candidates that have served their country honorably can join the medical device industry and continue to serve a purpose that helps patients all over the world.

“These unique candidates have exactly what it takes to succeed in the medtech industry, from strong leadership skills and work ethic to perseverance and passion. Their dedication to the larger mission of helping patients live fuller, healthier, and happier lives is a necessity in our industry,” said Scott Whitaker, President & CEO of AdvaMed, the medtech association, and new member of the MedTechVets Board of Directors. “AdvaMed is proud to support this new program, and I am confident that this initiative will give these leaders the training and experience to pursue purpose-driven medtech careers.”

“Leveraging the expansive network of Veterans, mentors and partner medical device and technology companies, MedTechVets is in a unique position to deliver qualified candidates to the industry,” said Steve Mapa, President and Executive Director of MedTechVets.  “Veterans are more likely to adapt to a role quicker and stay at the company for a longer period of time, as evidenced by data from the MedTechVets Foundational Program which demonstrated a 95% placement rate.”

Eligible for the Executive Leadership Program are those USMA/USNA Veterans actively transitioning from the military, as well as those already employed in the med tech sector aspiring to even greater leadership responsibilities.  “We are so pleased to partner with the West Point Association of Graduates and the United States Naval Academy Alumni Association & Foundation to promote the new program,” Mr. Mapa said.

“Hiring military service members and Veterans strengthens a company culture, improves employee engagement, and enhances diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts,” said Joe Mullings, Chairman & CEO of The Mullings Group, the leading search firm in Medtech, Healthtech, and Life Sciences.  “Our military develops high performing individuals who demonstrate commitment, collaboration, intelligent problem-solving, and straight up grit.  This unique program will accelerate access to and placement of these powerfully qualified candidates.”
