Four young British people are completing their artistic training at the Museo Nacional del Prado
One of these 4 candidates will win the 2024 Richard Ford Prize
The beneficiaries of the 2024 Richard Ford Prize grant are four students who will be furthering their studies until 24 October.
The jury to decide on the winner will meet in London on 25 November.
For some years the Museo Nacional del Prado has collaborated with the Richard Ford Foundation to present the prestigious Richard Ford Prize, founded in 1976 by Sir Brinsley Ford and supported by the Royal Academy of Arts.
Every year the Richard Ford Prize offers a small group of young figurative artists, selected by the Foundation from the principal British and Irish art schools, the opportunity to travel to Spain to study the collection of the Museo del Prado and create an artistic response to its works, artists or collections.
During their stay the students work in the museum’s galleries, putting together a sketchbook.
The final presentation of their projects is scheduled for 25 November in London. A jury will be formed, including a member of the staff from the Museo Nacional del Prado, which will choose the winner of the prize, with £500 awarded to the student whose sketchbooks are of the highest artistic quality.
