The UNESCO programme Transcultura: Integrating Cuba, the Caribbean and the European Union through Culture and Creativity, funded by the European Union, has launched a call for applications to enrol in the free online course ‘Grant Proposal Writing | ACP-EU Grants for Arts & Culture’.

The ACP – EU Culture Programme is an initiative funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) that offers grants to support the competitiveness of cultural and creative industries across these regions. In the Caribbean, the programme is managed in partnership with the UNESCO Cluster Office for the Caribbean, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the University of the West Indies, through the Creative Caribbean project.

The course is aimed at young artists, creatives, cultural professionals and entrepreneurs, aged between 18 and 35, with innovative projects in the field of the cultural and creative industries. Applicants must be nationals and residents of one of the fifteen beneficiary countries of the ACP–EU Programme in the region: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.

The four-week online training will take place during April and will be delivered in English, Spanish and French. The following will be included:

  • information about the ACP-EU Culture Programme for the Caribbean, managed by the UNESCO Creative Caribbean project;
  • a detailed overview of the Creative Caribbean grant schemes and sub-strands;
  • eligibility criteria and overcoming eligibility challenges to apply successfully for these grants;
  • a thorough overview of the application form template, looking at standard answers with specific sessions on each application form question;
  • ‘Question and Answer’ and coaching sessions in small groups.

Applications must be sent by Monday 6 March 2023 at 23:59 Havana time (UTC-5) through this online application. For more information, please see the terms and conditions of the call.

The Transcultura programme harnesses the rich diversity of the Caribbean to become a driver for sustainable development, through exchange and cooperation in the region and with the European Union. One of its main objectives is building capacities for the development of new cultural projects, self-employment and the start-up or expansion of economic activities for young creators in the region.
