Stepping into an Unforgettable Journey

A compelling post-apocalyptic future is one of the most captivating settings to explore for readers. This is largely because understanding the context of the changes we can make in our world is critical to our growth as a society. Where would we be if medical care and public transportation had not advanced? If there is a sudden disaster, people will have to start creating new ways of living, and what they build will be just as important as who they are.

The children in the story are subjected to strict rules and are fed artificial food, but they are also allowed to be themselves. Literature should be both entertaining and realistic for children who want to learn about other cultures and unfamiliar environments. This book tells the story of a young boy who works hard despite growing up in an unnatural world. He and his friends rebel against this reality, attempting to find peace amid loneliness, violence, and confusion.

Being able to write in such a way that readers and characters can connect with and care for one another is a tremendously powerful skill for an author. This is why changing the setting from what’s been established and familiar is something that often sets the foundation for fantastic stories.

Terry Rowe received her bachelor’s degree in mathematics and biology from Steven F. Austin University. She taught in the Jefferson County Public School System in Louisville, Kentucky for ten years before moving to southern Indiana.
