airasia ride, the fastest-growing e-hailing platform has announced a collaboration with the Ex-Servicemen Affairs Corporation (Perbadanan Hal Ehwal Bekas Angkatan Tentera - PERHEBAT) to offer more job opportunities in the e-hailing sector for Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) veterans.

The partnership falls under PERHEBAT’s Post-Resettlement Training Program (Program Pasca Latihan Peralihan), where ex-servicemen undergo a series of skills training to help them prepare for their second career after retirement.

Through the partnership, airasia ride and PERHEBAT will work together to generate appropriate training modules to help develop their self-sufficiency, e-hailing operations knowledge and safe driving. airasia ride will also guide participants in the process of applying for the required licences and permits.

Lim Chiew Shan, Regional CEO of airasia ride, said, “We are proud to announce this agreement with PERHEBAT and be of service to our ex-servicemen. As a Malaysian, I will always be thankful for their services to the country, and this initiative will help them make their transition back to civilian life easier more smoothly. The e-hailing industry is accelerating as fast as it has ever been, and we have always wanted to invite more trained, professional drivers who could better serve our customers. With our Full-time Drivers programme, not only will ex-servicemen be able to earn more, but also be provided with better benefits and even better career prospects with airasia.”

Full-time Drivers will earn a monthly base income of RM2,500 to RM3,500 including fuel benefit, and the opportunity to earn a total income of up to RM8,000 with additional drivers incentives scheme, on top of a full suite of Allstar employee benefits including EPF, SOCSO, medical coverage that covers their spouses and children, annual leave, and other travel benefits such as heavily discounted staff rates for AirAsia flights. Additionally, Full-time Drivers will also be given priority airport job assignments to enable them to earn more from airport transfers as travel demand continues to ramp up across the region.

PERHEBAT was established under the ordinance of the Armed Force Fund Board in 1994 with the aim of operating and managing training programs, offering training facilities and monitoring the implementation of the training programs.

Today, PERHEBAT continues to be the driving force in polishing Retiring Personnel and ATM Veterans’ potential success in their second career. The Resettlement Training is a specialised program provided by the Government for ATM personnel who are finishing their service to gain personal skills and experience, to ensure that they are able to adapt to a new lifestyle after the completion of their service.

Major General Dato’ Seri Jamil Khir Baharom (Retired), Chairman of PERHEBAT, said, “As a training institution, PERHEBAT has been responsive and dynamic towards change and market demand. Thus, we welcome airasia ride to deliberate over and explore strategic opportunities. The collaboration with airasia ride is among many initiatives under the Post-Resettlement Training that aims to train and guide ATM Veterans who may find it difficult to get a job, through reskilling and upskilling programs.

It is within PERHEBAT’s responsibility to monitor a veteran’s second career after 6 months to 5 years upon completing their service. Veterans are guided through methods of advisory services, coaching, mentoring as well as networking with various government agencies and private companies.
