Award-Winning Author Carolyn Osborn Presents the Different Facets of Love and Romance in Her Book “Warriors and Maidens”

Austin, Texas – WEBWIRE

Carolyn Osborn is an award-winning writer who earned a journalism degree in 1955 and a master’s degree in 1959 from the University of Texas at Austin. She has received honors from P.E.N., the Texas Institute of Letters, and The Antioch Review’s Distinguished Prose Award (2003). Her stories have appeared in over twenty anthologies, including The O. Henry Awards (Doubleday, 1990) and Lone Star Literature (Norton, 2003).

In her book, “Warriors and Maidens,” Osborn focuses on men’s and women’s conflicted, often traumatic, relationships. Here are 12 stories in which the main protagonists are strong, self-sufficient women who desire meaningful and genuine connections. Succinctly she portrays many of the usual circumstances where men and women are torn by love.

Osborn has a unique ability to draw attention to important details. With sardonic humor and unique wit, her stories reveal more about people than they are prepared to admit about themselves. These are enticing, intriguing tales about dissentients who have life-changing experiences. Osborn, in this compilation, also presents love and romance in unconventional facets, showing its complexity and how it can affect some people outside the relationship. Readers are also brought closer to home as her characters draw inspiration from ordinary others who live ordinary lives. The main pull of this collection, on the other hand, is Osborn’s attempt to investigate how and why we sometimes neglect those who love us and pursue romantic relationships with and without reciprocity.
