Peter Vu’s Beloved Book “Summer Camp March” Has Been Translated to German - “Sommer Camp März” is Now Available

After its great book success, Peter G. Vu’s “Summer Camp March” is now available in German edition, sharing its wonderful story across the globe. A timeless story for young minds to explore. Today, the younger generation has seen many social issues, from racism to discrimination, hatred to inequality, and even countless deaths due to the Covid-19 pandemic. So, there’s no better time to educate our children than today. “Summer Camp March” attempts to expose these critical issues but in a simpler and understandable way. It’s an interesting book that started out as inspiration from red crabs who would march through different terrains and face several dangers to produce the next generation of crabs. 

Vu’s “Summer Camp March” is an adventure of a lifetime, together with Sideway, Clawdia, and Jabby, they bond a friendship that tackles each issue with their open-minded, creative, and brave persona. Together, with other crabs, they joined the summer camp where it’s located in a hidden forest surrounded by marshes and mangrove swamps. The camp counselor had prepared challenging activities from Day One to Day Five. As a team, they managed to support one another until the last contest and know that every challenge can be done. “This too shall pass,” as Clawdia would say, to calm down and breathe slowly because everything is going to be okay. They played the Tug-O-War game, found the most beautiful Scenic Sight for the Hunt, and even fought back with the fire ants. Indeed, it’s a memorable summer camp that proves friendship can move a mountain. 

Although the book is for kids, it’s not a far cry from today’s prevalent issues such as global warming, pandemic, and climate change. And as early as now, children should be taught that these issues should be taken seriously. With a summer camp setting, Vu explored all of these challenging issues of our time—and of course, with more fun and colorful vibes where young ones can learn as the story progresses. In life, there’s nothing better than a friend who unlocks the better version of yourself and encourages you to overcome any challenges in life.  

At its core, Vu wants young minds to deal with serious issues with a kind, creative, wide perspective. Like any rest of us, he wants all of us to do the right thing for ourselves, friends, family, other people, and the world. Yes, we can live in a world without discrimination, bullying, and causing trouble to the people around us. Vu wants us to be aware of how we take care of our nature, and to build a better place for everyone to live.

About the Author

Rev. Peter G. Vu has served as a Catholic priest of the Diocese of Grand Rapids, Michigan for 20 years and also a chaplain at Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. He was born in Saigon City (currently Ho Chi Minh City), Viet Nam. He was a young boy when the Viet Nam War ended. He witnessed the war and the end of it with great horror and deep appreciation for peace. He grew up with the Communist government system and endured significant hardships for more than a decade. After high school, he escaped by boat and came to the United States of America to begin his seminary training. He attended one year of high school here in the USA (Union High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan) to learn the language and new culture. He attended Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan for two years while staying at Christopher House Seminary. Then, the Seminary sent him to attend his last two years of college at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. He graduated with a double major: Mathematics and Philosophy. He then attended graduate school at the University of St. Mary of the Lake and Mundelein Seminary in Chicago, Illinois for five years. He graduated and was ordained with the Master’s Degree of Divinity (MDiv) and the Sacred Theology Baccalaureate (STB).
