About the Author
Mary Don Beachy earned a B.S. in Education at the University of Missouri and her Master’s Degree in Education from Baker University after which she honed her expertise by completing more than sixty additional hours of credit. For thirty-four years she taught elementary students in the Shawnee Mission School District where she was selected the first elementary “Super Star” teacher. Mary Don has been published in Kansas City Parent Magazine, Ducks Unlimited Magazine, The Instructor Magazine, The Kansas City Star, Kansas Journal of Reading, and in a teachers’ anthology of poetry. She taught many hours of children’s cooking classes with her friend, and together they published a cookbook, “When Peanut Butter Is Not Enough!” (which sold almost 6,000 copies). Mary Don and her husband, have three adult children and three grandchildren. She loves reading, traveling, gardening, cooking, and being with her family.
