Half a million Colombian students, teachers, and employees now have access to online learning courses that will help them build vital technical and soft skills through a new agreement between SENA (Colombian National Learning Service) and LinkedIn Learning. Together, SENA, Microsoft, and LinkedIn will help prepare Colombian workers to thrive in the digital economy and create new pathways to opportunity for the nation’s workforce.

To help workers keep pace with rapidly evolving technological change, the program will deliver personalized insights and course recommendations to SENA apprentices about the emerging skills needed to thrive in their job. LinkedIn will also enable SENA to identify the most in-demand skills in the Colombian economy, and tailor learning programs for maximum relevance.

With more than 7 million Colombian members, and over 53 thousand companies connected on its platform, Linkedin is uniquely positioned to respond to changing market needs while helping to curb unemployment and widening skills gaps. Recent data shows the Colombian youth unemployment rate is 16.7%, and the country’s technology industry reported 62,000 unfilled jobs in 2019 alone.

Expert-led courses range from tech skills like Google Analytics to soft skills like building resilience. New courses will be added according to the trends spotted by LinkedIn in Colombia, to help connect workers to localized career opportunities.

“Our vision as a company is to create economic opportunity for every member of the global workforce. Through our agreement with SENA, we are putting this vision into action by preparing thousands of Colombians with the skills and learning pathways they need to compete in today’s global digital economy,” said Milton Beck, LinkedIn General Director for Latin America.
