The Best Value Colleges & Universities You (Probably) Never Heard Of

Not one of those ubiquitous ranking lists

Boca Raton, Florida USA – WEBWIRE

Many people don’t trust all those college rankings that seem to pop up everywhere. Even many educators agree rankings have little real value, especially when the same schools are always in the Top 100, just in slightly different order each year. So, back in 2012 a group of higher education experts, led by former university CEO Joseph Schmoke, created the Best Value School Awards. The goal was to develop a special list, not another ranking but a refreshing look at good, reasonably priced schools. Further, the experts insisted each school be endorsed by a strong majority of their students and alumni. The 2020 Ninth Edition of Best Value School Awards is freely accessible at www.bestvaluecolleges.org.

Included in this exclusive list are colleges with enrollments of 500 to 60,000 students, with online-only, classroom-only, or a combination of both. There are colleges for women, colleges for Christians, and colleges that offer locations that appeal to outdoors-types. Academic programs vary from associate degrees to doctorates and certificate-only courses for specialized skills like coding. Annual cost for fulltime degree programs varies with most hovering in the $18,000-$20,000 range. Special skills programs cost far less. Most institutions on the list offer special financial aid including grants and scholarships; in most cases all you need do is ask.

Schmoke commented that a store manager at Macy’s, a welder at Ford, or a Federal employee in greater Washington DC can simplify their search for a new skill, career or advanced degree by using the Best Value Colleges website. He said a nurse with an RN might know she should get a BSN but doesn’t realize she can handle many of the BSN requirements online while working at her present job.

Founded by former college and university presidents and CEOs, and advised by experienced academics and outside experts, Best Value Colleges has awarded its Best Value School designations since 2012. The full list of 100 college and university awardees can be found at www.bestvaluecolleges.org.
