Uppsala municipality chose Tieto Lifecare to replace several current systems used by more than 6,000 employees within the healthcare and social care sectors.

Tieto Lifecare gives Uppsala municipality access to more efficient process support, a simpler user interface and new functionality for offering citizens more value-adding e-services.

”We want to use digitalization to drive development forward and streamline our use of resources. A modern business system is a prerequisite for meeting future challenges and developing e-services for our citizens. Tieto offered the best combination of price and quality,” says Thomas Ekvall, CIO at Uppsala Municipality.

Lifecare is currently used by around 170 municipalities in Sweden to improve coordination within the healthcare and social care sectors and create better communication between patients and care providers.

Uppsala Municipality has previously used two parallel systems for tasks such as exercising public authority, record keeping and providing support for the social care and social services administrations, as well as several smaller systems for other tasks.

”The old environment with several systems was often seen as too sprawling with many different logins and poor interaction. With Tieto Lifecare, we can streamline operations and facilitate the staff’s mobile work,” says Thomas Ekvall, CIO at Uppsala municipality.

Tieto will work with two partners on this assignment. Phoniro is responsible for digital lock management and Journal Digital will deliver special functions within family care.

”We are delighted that Uppsala Municipality has chosen Tieto as its partner for meeting the challenges facing the municipality. We look forward to working together to enable a smarter society by making use of digitalization and creating digital solutions both for citizens and staff,” says Inger Ekman, Head of Welfare at Tieto.
