IDFA Bertha Fund supports 2 new projects with €60,000 through IBF Europe – Distribution grant

Two documentary projects have been selected to receive the IBF Europe – Distribution grant, which supports the distribution of co-productions between European and non-European producers. One IBF Europe – Distribution grant is still available for 2019.

In this selection round, the IDFA Bertha Fund supported two new creative documentary projects. The projects were granted a total amount of €60,000 and together they are expected to cover distribution in 5 countries worldwide. This round’s selected projects are:

Talking About Trees
Dir. Suhaib Gasmelbari, prod. AGAT Films & Cie (France), co-prod. Goï-Goï Productions (Sudan), Made in Germany Filmproduktion (Germany), Vidéo de Poche (France), Doha Film Institute (Qatar).
Premiered at Berlinale 2019, selected for Best of Fests at IDFA 2019.
Applicant: Distributor Météore Films (France). The grant will cover the theatrical release of the film in France, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland.

Cocaine Prison
Dir. Violeta Ayala, prod. United Notions Film (Bolivia), co-prod. Seppia (France).
Premiered at TIFF 2017.
Applicant: Co-producer Seppia. The grant will cover community screenings in Bolivia and Colombia, and theatrical release in France.

The selection committee included Anne Vierhout (General Director, Cinema Delicatessen), Liselot Verbrugge (Sales Agent, Deckert Distribution) and Mélanie de Vocht (Project Manager, IDFA Bertha Fund).
