Dior Prestige: A commitment to the Rose

Faithful to Christian Dior’s love of flowers and gardens, the House is affirming its commitment to respecting biodiversity through the organic* cultivation of the Granville Rose. In partnership with the Association des Amis d’André Eve, Dior Skincare is promoting French horticultural savoir-faire in rose growing using organic farming techniques.

“Having inherited my passion for flowers from my mother, I was particularly happy in the company of plants and gardeners,” wrote Christian Dior in his memoirs. Like a tribute to the founding couturier and his passion, the House is perpetuating horticultural savoir-faire inherited from the French gardener André Eve. In the 1980s, this talented rose breeder developed a pioneering horticultural vision intimately linked to the preservation of the natural world.

This vision was passionately passed on to hybrid rose specialist Jérôme Rateau, who created the Granville Rose. The central active ingredient in Dior Prestige skincare, this iconic flower was the first rose ever to be created especially for a skincare line, the fruit of seven meticulous cross-breedings and selected from more than 40,000 different roses for its exceptional regenerative properties.

To continue its commitment to preserving nature and its wealth, Dior is inaugurating a partnership with the Association des Amis d’André Eve. Three essential pillars are at the heart of this unprecedented alliance: the use of natural rather than chemical fertilizers, the introduction of beneficial insects like ladybugs in order to avoid pesticides, as well as the cultivation of companion plants, all elements that allow the creation of an ecosystem that is beneficial to nature. This plant diversity flourishes in nutrient-rich soil, contributing to reinforcing the vitality and resistance of the Granville rosebushes, which are planted in the ground in a dedicated Dior Garden.

Grown according to organic agricultural standards, hand-picked using expert gestures and eco-transformed in the heart of the RoseLab, the Granville Rose is the reflection of a rigorous, carefully managed process unique to Dior Skincare. This savoir-faire is a guarantee that Dior Prestige products are concentrated in 100% pure and natural floral active ingredients, respecting both nature and women’s skin.
