Iberia to Use Airbus A350-900, Its Most Sustainable Aircraft, for Chile Flights

Iberia is to use the Airbus A350-900s, its most sustainable aircraft, on flight between Madrid and Santiago de Chile.

Starting on 1st November, Iberia will being using the aircraft of three of its ten weekly return flights between the two cities, specifically the daytime flights leaving Madrid at 12:20 h. and arriving in Santiago at 21:45 h. on  Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The new aircraft will gradually replace the Airbus A340-600s now used on the daily flight leaving Madrid at 23:55 h. and arriving in  Santiago at 09:25 h.

Most Sustainable and Silent 

The A350/900 is a twin-engine aircraft with a range of 14,800 km.  and it burns 25% less fuel than aircraft of similar capacity, with the corresponding decrease in exhaust gas emissions. 

Iberia’s growing fleet of 348-seat Airbus A350-900s is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines, each with 84,000 lbs. of thrust, helpinhg to make them the world’s quietest airliners today. Reinforced landing gear enables the aircraft to take off with a maximum weight of 280 tonnes

The Most Advanced Airliner in the Market

Before the end of 2023 Iberia is to take delivery of a total of 20 units of the A350-900, incorporating the latest technology in both construction and operation. Some 70% if its structure is made of tough, lightweight materials such as carbon fibre, fibre glass, titanium, and aluminium alloys. It is designed to operate under Iberia’s new eOperation system, under which all flight information is lodged on digital supports and all aircraft systems are connected in real time to Iberia’s ground-based IT system. 

More Room and Comfort

A draft-free ventilation system with ozone filters replaces all cabin air every two or three minutes, and maintains relative humidity at between 11% and 16% in seven independently-controlled temperature zones. The aircraft also features panoramic windows and LED interior lighting. 

In Iberia’s configuration, the !350-900 has 348 seats: 31 in Business, 24 in Premium Economy, and 293 in Economy. 

Wider aisles and a more efficient distribution of interior space ensure more room for passengers, and more storage space for hand luggage in all three seating sections. All seats are equipped with on-demand entertainment systems as well as power points for personal devices. The Panasonic KU Wi-Fi system is available to all passengers.
