Electro - Electronics: visions and music. An exhibition at the Biennale CIMM

On Monday September 23rd, the exhibition Electro - Electronics: visions and music will be inaugurated in Mestre, in the spaces of the Biennale CIMM in the Parco Albanese – Bissuola, and will remain open through Sunday November 10th 2019.

Organized by La Biennale di Venezia chaired by Paolo Baratta, in collaboration with the Philarmonie de Paris, Electro talks about electronic music and brings it center stage with the sounds and images that it generates, to interrogate its future.

Electro is a contribution to the life of the Centro civico della Bissuola, and appears as an appropriate form of decentralization for the activities of La Biennale, which the city and its representatives have aspired to, with an action of the highest quality that will offer new opportunities for the life of the citizens and the city, by integrating the Educational and College activities conceived for the CIMM, the center for computer music and multimedia opened this year by La Biennale in its two venues of the Arsenale and at Parco Albanese – Bissuola.

Electro will present musical and visual installations, some of them interactive, iconic instruments, experimental devices, contemporary art works, photographic audio-visuals (diaporamas): an exhibition to experience in a space reinvented for the occasion, immersed in the soundtrack created by Laurent Garnier – from New York’s 70s dance music to the futuristic techno music of the 2000s – with set design by 1024 Architecture. This is a visit that will make you listen, observe and even dance.

Electronic music arose from the experimentations of the 1950s and became a mass phenomenon with EDM (Electronic Dance Music) between the 1970s and 80s, influencing all the arts and many aspects of life and society. From the pioneers – legendary figures such as Jean-Michel Jarre and Laurent Garnier – to their heirs, the exhibition also features artists from other disciplines, such as 1024 Architecture and Bruno Peinado. Electro does not wish to merely represent the past, but to actively portray the artists of yesterday and today to describe the imagery, the places, the myths, the innovations, the tribes and the generations that have crowded the dance floors.

A prologue to La Biennale’s 63rd International Festival of Contemporary Music (Venice, September 27th - October 6th) directed by Ivan Fedele, Electro presents some elements of the same exhibition held through August this year at the Cité de la Musique in Paris.
