PSA Foundation unveils project to help young people obtain their driving licence in partnership with France’s Production Schools

“Lack of mobility is the main barrier to employment,” comments Karine Hillaireau, who heads up the PSA Foundation. “Having a driving licence actually doubles a young person’s chances of getting a job. That’s why we decided to help young people in technical training programmes work towards getting their driving licence alongside their studies. We’re very proud of this project, which is already proving to be a big success.”

“The training provided by Production Schools gives young people excellent qualifications for entering the workforce,” comments Dominique Hiesse, Chairman of the French National Federation of Production Schools (FNEP). “A driving licence co-financed by the PSA Foundation is an additional asset for ensuring 100% employability.”

Production Schools provide vocational training to young people who find that the traditional school system is not always suited to their needs. The schools adopt a “learning by doing” approach, combining workshops and classrooms on the same premises. With a 90% exam success rate and a 100% employability rate, the model has already proven its effectiveness. It has been recognised as an innovative alternative educational model by the French Ministry of Education in Law 2018-771, dated 5 September 2018, “for the freedom to choose one’s professional future”.
