Tata Steel Foundation set to organise ‘Sabal Awards 2019’

Tata Steel Foundation is all set to organise ‘Sabal Awards 2019’ function at the Michael John Auditorium, Jamshedpur on September 5, 2019. The occasion would be a commemoration of Tata Steel’s engagement with Persons with Disabilities (PWD), and its message on inclusivity to the larger society.

Sabal Awards 2019, is designed as a step forward to reach out to several exemplary persons who are engaged in contributing to the larger cause of disability in their own unique ways. The distinguished guests at the programme would be Mr T V Narendran, CEO & MD, Tata Steel, Mr Satish Chandra, State Disability Commissioner and Mr Rajesh Kumar Singh, IAS, Additional Secretary in Jharkhand Government’s Higher Technical Education & Skill Development Department, amongst others.

This year, the award ceremony will recognise four distinct areas of engagement including sports, employment, academics and entrepreneurship where members of PWD communities have not only made their mark, but are also paving the way for several others to join their league. In its first season, the entries for the awards have been invited from Jharkhand and Odisha.

The award ceremony would also witness felicitation of change agents - the ‘Sabal Saathis’ – thereby acknowledging their selfless service towards the cause of persons with disability. 

The occasion would also be a befitting one to applaud the exemplary softer skills of several members of the PWD community in different performing arts.

Sabal, initiated by the Tata Steel Foundation in December 2017 in Noamundi, is a first-of-its-kind centre in eastern India in partnership with Enable India, aimed at creating abilities for Person with Disabilities through a participative atmosphere and customised infrastructure that enables skilling, employability and financial independence.
