The author’s book provides an in-depth analysis on what makes human beings happy.

Bellevue, Washington, USA – WEBWIRE

“Many things have been said about money, such as “Money makes the world go ‘round”; “Money can’t buy me love”; “Money can’t buy you happiness”; “Money don’t get everything, it’s true, but what it don’t get, I can’t use! Gimme moooooooney…that’s what I want!”; and “… the love of money is the root of all evil”. But what is money in reality and what role does it play in the pursuit of happiness?”

Gastroenterologist and author Peter G. Justus has republished his engaging book, “The Pursuit of the Personal Renaissance Experience: Finding Opportunities for Happiness in the Ever-Present Now.” Published by ReadersMagnet, the author’s book takes on the question of the origin of true, deep happiness.

Dr. Justus begins with an analysis of a personal experience that led to the development of his theories regarding the origin of happiness.  He then takes his audience on a journey that includes discussions of biology, evolution, philosophy, psychology, history, and religion, with frequent references to popular culture including movies, television shows, and even comments made by stars of professional sports. Specific topics include chocolate cake, heroin, orgasms, fatherhood, personal relationships at work, politics, the minds of crows, Nazi concentration camps, and golf.

He considers popular conceptions of where happiness can be found. Money has a chapter of its own:

Dr. Justus asserts that the acquisition of the quantity of money required to take care of the current and retirement needs of a person, their spouse and ensure the success of their offspring, plus enough to pay for reasonable personal indulgences, generates more happiness than the mere possession of money.   Money should not be allowed to become a trophy since trophies themselves cannot generate happiness. He explains that money needs to have a life after acquisition and how this can happen.

Dr. Justus dives deeper into the money issue and many others: Why is that many of our pursuits of happiness leave us feeling so empty? What is it about our biologic lives that dictates why certain things we do will make us more happy than other things we may choose to do? What are the two most basic journeys we face in life? What role does spirituality play?
