BRF Announces New Investments in Mato Grosso

Company has programmed R $ 59 million in production process improvement projects for Lucas do Rio Verde and Nova Mutum units

BRF, one of the largest global food companies, announced today investments of $ 59 million in its operations in Mato Grosso by 2020. In this year alone, the company is investing $ 24 million in Lucas do Rio Verde and Nova Mutum units. for improvements in production processes and another R $ 35 million will be applied during 2020. Among the projects that are foreseen are the generation of energy from biomass, the beginning of the digitization of the production lines and the modernization of the pork line to production of new cuts with higher added value, already launched by the company recently.

With the opening of new markets to Brazilian exports, the total invested directly by BRF in Mato Grosso could reach $ 124 million in the coming years, with an increase of $ 65 million compared to what is already forecast. In addition, another R $ 268 million may be invested by the integration system to expand the supply of chicken and pork.

“Mato Grosso is strategic for BRF’s operations, being one of our main producing centers. The investments we anticipate for the next two years show this. If the scenario of higher external demand for protein is confirmed, we are ready to increase by 30% our chicken and 20% pork production in Lucas do Rio Verde, significantly increasing our presence in the state ”, explains Lorival Luz, CEO of BRF.

The announcement was made at a meeting held today with Governor Mauro Mendes (DEM-MT), Federal Deputy Neri Geller (PP-MT), Government Secretary Alberto Machado and Secretary of Agriculture Silvano Amaral.

Between 2014 and 2018, BRF invested more than R $ 440 million in the Mato Grosso units. Lucas do Rio Verde’s farm adaptation, in partnership with integrated producers, received the International Certified Humane Seal, which recognizes the application of good animal welfare practices for the third consecutive year this year.

In Mato Grosso the company has more than 8 thousand direct employees and about 300 employees. In total, the Mato Grosso factories have an installation production capacity of over 690,000 tons / year and, in addition to the domestic market, serve regions such as the Middle East and Asia.
