Philipines DTI Secretary Ramon M. Lopez Visited HBIS TangSteel

 Philipines Department of Trade and Industry(DTI) Secretary Ramon M. Lopez and his delegation visited HBIS Tangsteel. Hebei SASAC CCP Chairman and Director Lv Zhicheng, HBIS CCP & Group Chairman Yu Yong met HBIS Mr.Lopez and HBIS Vice President Wang Xindong accompanied the site visit. 

Lv Zhicheng said, in the past two years, Chairman Xi Jinping and President Duterte had paid great importance to China and Philipines relationship and made concensus in fields.Hebei will firmly implement Chairman Xi Jinping’s instructions, follow the concensus and carry out our projects. Hebei CCP and government, SASAC and HBIS have assigned a project supervison group, a leading group and a working team to implement the projects.  

Lv Zhicheng said HBIS was very experienced in operating overseas and he hoped that the parties could build a swift communication mechanism, clarify a project, identify the timeline and make it a success. We could make Philipines’ first ever long process steel making plant to produce plates, section steel and wires. The project will definitely be a fruit of China & Philipines strategic Cooperation Partnership and a new business card and flashpoint of China & Philipines Friendship. 

Yu Yong said, back in June, in the meeting led by Mr. Lopez, the countries reached an agreement over the project and gave HBIS the confidence of investing in the Philipines. The project attracted the attention of the leaders of the two countries and we believe the success of our project will push the relationship of the two countries to a new height. HBIS is a globalized enterprise. Our choice in Philipines is also the choice of the future of HBIS. HBIS looks forward to a great future in the Philipines and HBIS has the capability and confidence to make the project in the country a first class project in the world. HBIS will respect the local regulations, law and culture and together with local authorities, we will push our project forward and make it a success.

Secretary Lopez said China and Philipines had been very close in the past years and President Duterte had attached great importance to build a friendship with China and expected great enterprises, like HBIS to invest in the Philipines. In the past five years, the Philipines have been developing fast with a fast growing GDP. It is now the fastest growing economy in ASEAN, with great demands to steel products. While, the Philipine lacks the abilities of steel production and cannot meet this demand in the country, leaving a great opportunity to this project. It is Philipines’ first long process composite steel making plant and will help the country to fulfill is steel dream. As a ministry, we will be dedicated to provide assistance to the implementation of the project.

After the meeting, Mr.Lopez and his delegation visit Tangsteel plant and production facilities.

In the water treatment center, Yu Yong introduced the recycling procedures of water resources. Mr.Lopez was deeply impressed by the new water consumption of each ton of steel and Zero emission of waste water and shared his comments in the visit, adding confidence to the coming new project. In the control room of 3200m3 blast furnace, looking at the visualized the procedures on the screens and real time data, Mr.Lopez asked whether the project in the Philipines would meet the same level. Yu Yong said the project in the Philipines will apply the world’s leading technologies, including the highest level of AI capabilities in the world. In the high strength automobile strip plant, Mr.Lopez toured the whole plant and deeply impressed by the modernized plant and said he was eager to bring his impression home and report to President Duterte.HBIS is a great partner and they are confident to implement this project in the Philipines.
