How precious is this to imagine that these delightful pets are getting into the spirit of the Halloween season. Such clever drawings in keeping with the minimalist style. Children can relate well. - Amazon Review

Finding a way to overcome personal differences to form friendships can be challenging. Children face this problem very early on in their socialization, and many sometimes struggle to accept, or even understand those who others who are different.

Eve Rompola discusses the issue in a brightly illustrated and cleverly written book, “The Adventures of Louie and His Friends”. Rompola chose animals for the characters of her book because she contends that children relate more easily to those in the animal kingdom.

The book follows Louie, the Rooster, who moves to the country, and meets two new friends, Daysee and Hobbes, who are cats. Louie, through the magic in his comb, tells his new friends what their days will be like. He also looks out for their safety.

Through her charming story, Rompola is able to educate young children on the importance of accepting others despite their differences, and even how beneficial it can be to embrace those differences. The magic of her lovely story is that children are entertained and taught an important lesson at the same time.

“The Adventures of Louie and His Friends” was/will be displayed in the upcoming Word on the Street, the biggest literary event in Canada this year on June 9 in Saskatoon, September 14 in Halifax, on September 21 in Lethbridge, and lastly on September 22 in Toronto. About the Author

Eve Rampola immigrated to North America as a young adult, without knowing any English and quickly learned the importance of forming friendships and co-existing with the people in her new community. She lives in a townhouse with her husband, her beloved cats, and their dog. When she isn’t busy working in the emergency room or the intensive care unit of one of the local hospitals, she raises orphaned, new-born kittens, bottle feeding them until they are old enough to be self-sufficient. At that time, she finds suitable homes for them.
