This story touches on many things, effects of gambling, abusive relationships, and best of all, the joy of raising horses. The birth of a foal. I enjoyed it. - Kindle Reader

“Hot Blooded Murder, A Bryn Wiley Mystery” is a gripping crime thriller that rivets the reader’s attention. It’s a compelling story of the investigation into a horse breeder’s murder. Set in a sultry New Orleans community, the investigation will determine the fate of a champion stallion. Is the horse the culprit and thus he must die by lethal injection, or is the murderer a human?

Jacqueline D’Acre was a horse breeder, a childhood dream that never ebbed. Her passion for New Orleans and horses shines through in this novel full of charming Deep South romanticism, complete with Spanish moss, a voodoo queen, and quirky characters that generate suspense and even humor in the most unexpected ways.

The story is helmed by Bryn Wiley, an equine writer with a penchant for murder investigations. Working on a follow-up story, she stumbles upon the body of a Morgan horse breeder. The breeder’s prize stallion guards the body or—is he gloating over his victim? Against her better judgment, Bryn pokes around the crime scene, wondering if the stallion really is the culprit.

Written in brilliant prose that builds suspense, the story draws the reader in. The reader is inside every scene, with every detail vividly described, so one is mesmerized by the drama. The story is rife with financial intrigues, deception, the power of greed, and even, the poignant birth of a foal.

Even if a reader has little interest in horses, the author’s way of presenting her knowledge of horses will catch anyone’s interest. Not since the famed jockey-novelist, Dick Francis, has an author so aptly captured the fascinating world of horses. You will laugh, you will cheer, you will root for the prized stallion aptly named Lightning Strikes Once and you will never deduce “whodunit!”

“Hot Blooded Murder, a Bryn Wiley Mystery” by Jacqueline D’Acre, will be one of your can’t-put-down novels, with a plot and writing as classic as any intense tale of deduction and thrills that a great mystery inspires. And if, after reading this you crave more, look out for the next Bryn Wiley mystery: Killer Katrina, A Bryn Wiley Mystery to be followed by Death at the Sugar Bowl Classic, A Bryn Wiley Mystery.

“Hot Blooded Murder” will be/was displayed in the upcoming Word on the Street, the biggest literary events in Canada this year on September 22 in Toronto.
