Valerie Bosse heads Wintershall Dea do Brasil

Change at the top of Wintershall Dea in Brazil: Valerie Bosse is the new Managing Director of the Wintershall Dea Business Unit Brazil and is responsible for all previous Wintershall and DEA activities in the country. On 30 April 2019, the two German companies Wintershall Holding GmbH (Wintershall) and DEA Deutsche Erdoel AG (DEA) completed their international merger to form Wintershall Dea, which is now Europe’s largest independent gas and oil company. The wholly owned Brazilian subsidiary Wintershall Dea do Brasil is responsible for all previous Wintershall and DEA activities in Brazil. Bosse takes over from Gerhard Haase (Wintershall), who is retiring, and Christoph Schlichter (DEA), who is now in charge of integrating the recently acquired Sierra Oil & Gas in Mexico for Wintershall Dea.

Valerie Bosse has worked for Wintershall in various areas since 1989 and brings extensive E&P experience from various positions. She was responsible for exploration in Libya (2003-2007), the Netherlands (2007-2011), and led various exploration projects in Brazil, North Africa and the UK. Bosse had been Vice President Global Exploration and New Ventures since 2011. In this function, she was responsible for Wintershall’s global exploration activities.

Wintershall re-entered Brazil in 2018 and is continuing on its growth course. The company has been awarded seven exploration licenses in Brazil. Wintershall Dea now operates four of these licenses. The licenses are located off the north- and southeast coasts of Brazil and show considerable potential. In two of the allocated blocks, preliminary exploration activities are already under way. The Brazilian offshore is considered one of the most promising oil regions in the world. Wintershall Dea’s growth strategy also includes expansion in new regions. Hence, Wintershall Dea wants to build up a broad and diversified portfolio in Brazil including activity in various basins.
